Vivo announced on Wednesday, 20 April that the Vivo X80 series, which is due to become official on 25 April, will feature the Vivo V1+ imaging chip inside. Developed in-house by the company and Media Tek, the new chip is set to improve the display and imaging capabilities of Vivo’s upcoming flagships.
Why it matters
Over 300 Vivo and MediaTek employees have been working on the V1+ for 350 days to fully adapt it to the Dimensity 9000 platform, which has resulted in 30 new patent applications. Vivo also emphasizes that its custom image processor is the first one that can work with high-end SoCs from different companies. In comparison, OPPO’s MariSilicon X is only available to Snapdragon chips.
Vivo boasts that it also implements algorithms to optimize the CPU resource allocation technique to reduce heat generation and boost overall efficiency on the Dimensity 9000 architecture, which significantly enhances its power consumption. The test results revealed that when used in a gameplay environment with high-performance requirements, the Dimensity 9000 can increase the device’s battery life by 10%.
