On April 12, China Mobile released a new 5G voice product. 5G voice is the mobile phone call service that service providers offers based on the 5G network. Compared with Internet video calls, this service can directly make a video call with just one click on the dial. In addition, features such as screen sharing, remote collaboration and AI voice recognition and translation can be realized.
Why it matters
China Mobile is the first telecom operator in the world to launch 5G voice for trial commercial use, which is also an important exploration of 5G applications at the individual level. In the 5G network environment, the new 5G call service can be connected in less than two seconds, providing customers with a great user-friendly experience, such as ultra-low latency, ultra-clear picture quality, no traffic, and one-click video.
“It is faster, clearer, smarter and wider than traditional calls in the 2G / 3G / 4G network environment; it has more stable and handy features, and there is no need to download an app,” according to Shou Jianguo, General Manager of China Mobile Market Department.
Context
The new 5G voice function is being adapted in major mobile terminals. By July this year, all newly launched models by terminals will support the new 5G service.
Shou jianguo said the functions of 5G voice will be further enriched in the future, such as phone calls with virtual people and upgrade of traditional voice customer service to video customer service, providing better-consulting services for users.
